Ottawa Pedestrian & Cycling Plans
City of Ottawa, ON
Despite being one of Canada’s most active regions, Ottawa does not yet have a city-wide pedestrian or cycling network to allow people to safely and freely get around. In an effort to build on their existing pedestrian and cycling master plans, the City of Ottawa engaged citizens in a study on how they could make it easier for everyone to walk and cycle around its urban area.
MetroQuest was used online in both French and English to gather people’s comments on pedestrian & cycling behavior, origins, destinations and routing, levels of comfort, and recommended improvements. After using MetroQuest for only four weeks, the city was able to gather input from a broad demographic and gain key insights that will guide and prioritize future infrastructure updates.
