Maryland is projected to grow by more than 1 million residents by 2035, placing additional demands on a transportation system already challenged by capacity limitations. To address growing mobility challenges, the Maryland Department of Transportation (MDOT) undertook the development of the 2035 Maryland Transportation Plan (MTP), a 20-year vision for transportation in the state.
MetroQuest allowed the public to help identify and rank the most important transportation issues, as well as potential strategies for addressing them. The tool also collected feedback on how to pay for the transportation infrastructure improvements as well as priorities for the bicycle and pedestrian plan also being created.
