Summary

The Regional Intergovernmental Council of the Charleston, West Virginia, updated their regional transportation plan in a project called Metro Mobility. The project was an update to the 2040 Regional Intergovernmental Council Long Range Transportation Plan adopted in December 2009.

The council engaged Michael Baker International, LLC (Baker) as the lead consultant on the project. Baker regularly utilizes digital engagement tools as part of the stakeholder engagement and public involvement practices. On this project, Baker selected MetroQuest to provide both web- and workshop-based digital engagement (via iPads).

The project team was able to more quickly and cost-effectively collect and compile key stakeholder input by employing a common platform online for remote members of the community and during workshops with iPads. The input collected during phase one was used to help inform the alternatives that were presented to the region during phase two of the project.
