Summary

Canada’s busiest and most congested urban center is facing a growing number of transportation challenges as the population continues to grow and strain existing and aging infrastructure. The City of Toronto recognized the need to manage congestion and accommodate future growth in a way that improves the experience of everyone across all modes of transportation. With MetroQuest, it initiated a conversation to explore options and identify the means to fund infrastructure improvements.

MetroQuest was used online as an integrated part of the project website to collect community input on decision making criteria and funding options to balance a $2 billion annual budget. After only two months, the website engaged over 7000 participants and the city was able to gather more input from a broader demographic than any other project in the city’s history.
